Brunei Darussalam's first smart oyster hatchery marked a major step forward in the development of sustainable aquaculture, marine biotechnology, river restoration and future blue economy industries in the country. The hatchery's soft launching was held at Muara Fisheries Complex, 24th June afternoon.

It was inaugurated by Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. The smart oyster hatchery is being launched through Sunda Futures, a joint venture between Poni Group, its innovation hub ASTARI, and Clean Valley CIC. Beyond oysters, the hatchery technology can potentially be adapted for other marine species and ecosystems, including lobsters, seaweed, clams, mussels and seagrass-related restoration work.
